Central Vietnam

Phong Nha

Giant caves, underground rivers and jungle in a limestone national park.

About Phong Nha

A Kingdom Of Caves

Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, in Quang Binh province, protects one of the oldest limestone landscapes in Asia. Underneath its forested mountains lies a huge network of caves and underground rivers, including Son Doong, the largest cave passage in the world. The park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

You do not need to be an expedition caver to enjoy it. Phong Nha Cave is explored by wooden boat along an underground river, and Paradise Cave has a long boardwalk through chambers of spectacular formations. For the more adventurous, guided jungle treks lead to wild caves, forest streams and swimming holes.

The village of Phong Nha and the nearby Bong Lai valley are peaceful places of rice fields, rivers and farmstays. It is a lovely stop between Hanoi and Hue, and a great place for families and active travellers.
